Modernism by definition means a style or movement in the arts that aims to break with classical and traditional forms and that's exactly what Frank Gehry and Rafael Moneo dedicated their lives to.
While both architects focused on complete different aspects of their projects, the each created modern masterpieces that changed architecture forever.
Frank Gehry is a Canadian born architect, he is one of the most renowned designers of the 20th Century. Mostly known for his use of bold postmodern shapes and his monumental structures. Breaking with boring traditional shapes and symmetry in all shape or form. Ghery was also interested in furniture design but decided to focus in structures. His fragmented forms and fluid none- rectilinear shapes made his work stand out from others in his time.

As for Rafael Moneo, a Spanish architect from the 21st century. His works are more simple yet modern. Unlike Gehry’s extravagant and unlikely shapes, Moneo focused more on the materials he used and on the construction progress of the piece itself. Moneo’s piece don’t stand our by their looks but for how well they go into their surroundings and how it complements the urban space.

Therefore, we come to the conclusion that modernism is a very vast concept that covers a lot of ground. Despite the fact that Moneo's and Gehry’s work were very different from each other they both made a big impact on today’s concept of modernism.
