Style and ornament are concepts that are frequently confused by one being the other since they're so closely linked.

They are three key things to a great design, Style which comes from the Latin word stilus, ornament which is a detail that aids a system and decoration which is an adjustment which purpose is to transmit beauty.

The absence of ornament can also be considered a type of ornament which is where minimalism comes from.

According to Adolf Loos the exterior it's what we're able to perceive which makes it the most important. ”there's no architecture without decoration”

The ornamentation of absence of ornamentation can change the complete meaning of the structural design. Back in the day of ancient Greece the most basic form of ornament were the sculptures of gods. They could also be gargoyles and even letters.

In conclusion, the style and ornament of any design are what shapes and defines the structure. It's what adds a personal feeling and is what distinguishes the piece from any other simple structure. Its that gives it it's personality and adds incredible value.
